Touring a Telephone Central Office

Today I had the unique opportunity to visit the inside of a telephone central office building and receive a tour. It was very interesting to see the technology that makes our telephones and internet function. There was equipment ranging from the decades old DMS-100 telephone switch to modern fiber optic. The building is a time capsule of telephone history. More photos of this tour can be found here.

Looks like a great adventure! As you pointed out, this building is a time capsule, and for me to follow along at home through a website such as this is also like looking into a time capsule in its own way. Such a fitting home for a tale such as this. I’m glad you had a fun day out!
